Job Description

Project: VISION is a small nonprofit organization serving youth ages 12-18 in the Chinatown & Bridgeport communities. We are looking to hire two energetic, enthusiastic Youth Program Coordinators to work under the guidance of the Program Manager to perform the following responsibilities:
-Assist with youth programs development and curriculum planning
-Lead/implement various youth programs including college and career readiness, leadership, and service learning activities
-Engage parents with regular communication, plan and lead parent workshops
-Identify program improvement needs and assist with implementation of program improvements
-Carry out program evaluation activities and maintain student and program records
-Carry out student recruitment activities, conduct outreach in the community and local schools
-Serve as a mentor to a cohort of 40 youth during the year
-Manage day-to-day operation of homework tutoring program and help provide homework tutoring for 6-12th graders
-Assist with training and supervision of volunteer and staff tutors

We are also looking to develop a curriculum of service and leadership programs to engage our English Language Learner (ELL/ESL) population. Ideally, this would be a pilot project for one of the Program Coordinators. An ideal candidate would be fluent in Mandarin and/or Cantonese Chinese and have knowledge and experience with the immigrant population in the community.

-Bachelor’s degree required
-Interest in nonprofit career and youth development
-Must be fluent in spoken Chinese Cantonese and/or Mandarin
-Must have experience working with middle school and high school youth
-Self-motivated with initiative and works well with a team
-Professional, organized, has excellent attention to detail, and able to multi-task
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
